INVESTIGATION OF BOUNDARY LAYERS IN A SINGULAR PERTURBATION PROBLEM INCLUDING A 4TH ORDER ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

In this paper, we investigate a singular perturbation problem including a fourth order O.D.E. with general linear boundary conditions. Firstly, we obtain the necessary conditions of solution of O.D.E. by making use of fundamental solution, then by compatibility of these conditions with boundary conditions, we determine that, for given perturbation problem, whether boundary layer is formed or not.

Singular Eigenvalue Problems for Second Order Linear Ordinary Differential Equations

We consider linear differential equations of the form (p(t)x′)′ + λq(t)x = 0 (p(t) > 0, q(t) > 0) (A) on an infinite interval [a,∞) and study the problem of finding those values of λ for which (A) has principal solutions x0(t;λ) vanishing at t = a. This problem may well be called a singular eigenvalue problem, since requiring x0(t;λ) to be a principal solution can be considered as a boundary co...

Singular Dirichlet Problem for Ordinary Differential Equations with Φ-laplacian

We provide sufficient conditions for solvability of a singular Dirichlet boundary value problem with φ-Laplacian (φ(u)) = f(t, u, u), u(0) = A, u(T ) = B, where φ is an increasing homeomorphism, φ( ) = , φ(0) = 0, f satisfies the Carathéodory conditions on each set [a, b] × 2 with [a, b] ⊂ (0, T ) and f is not integrable on [0, T ] for some fixed values of its phase variables. We prove the exis...

Because the presentation of this material in class will differ from that in the book, I felt that notes that closely follow the class presentation might be appreciated.
